The Swiss software company Adnovum is launching the next version of the eVIV portal just in time for Swiss Garage Day. «eVIV» stands for «electronic version of the provisional registration». The portal was developed as part of the cardossier ecosystem to simplify the administrative processes related to the provisional registration and to reduce the workload for all parties involved. With eVIV, garage owners handle the entire process of vehicle registration conveniently and digitally in a standardized way, from applying for proof of insurance to reporting to the road traffic office.  

The eVIV portal integrates Swiss vehicle insurance companies, road traffic offices, and car dealers. It is continuously expanded. The proof of insurance is requested online in the portal and sent directly to the road traffic office together with the application. The status of the application is visible in the portal at all times. The original documents are sent simultaneously by post. 

«Cost reduced by 70 %» 

The first version of eVIV was launched in 2023 at the Road Traffic Office of the Canton of  
Aargau and tested by selected garages. The new version offers significantly improved usability and also makes it possible to request an offer from an insurance company. David Schweizer, Managing Director of Garage P. Schweizer in Liestal, about his experiences: «eVIV is a fantastic product. The portal has enabled us to reduce the cost for registering new vehicles by around 70 %. I particularly appreciate the clear and comprehensible handling of the change of owner.»  

For 2025, the focus is on productizing the solution and including other cantons with the aim of soon being able to process provisional registration digitally throughout Switzerland and in Liechtenstein.
